🏈 Good Morning, Auburn Family! Auburn hits the road this weekend, focused and determined to finish strong. Coming off a double-overtime battle against Missouri, the Tigers are locked in and ready to bring their relentless energy and fight against Arkansas.

As we head to Fayetteville this weekend, our team is locked in and confident about the direction of this program. Every week, we continue to grow stronger, more disciplined, and more unified in our pursuit of excellence. Facing Arkansas on the road is another opportunity to show the progress and toughness that defines Auburn Football. I believe in this team, in our preparation, and in the foundation, we’re building for sustained success. We’re ready to compete and ready to finish.

War Eagle! — Head Coach Hugh Freeze

This week’s theme is “Fight Club.” Every man in this program is part of a fight — not just against an opponent, but for something bigger: the standard, the team, and the vision we’ve committed to. To win, we’ve got to focus on what’s important now — fight the fight in front of us, with no distractions and no hesitation. Keep the faith, stay diligent, and attack each day one step at a time. There’s no reserve in this program — we leave nothing in the tank. Every rep, every snap, every play matters. It’s about finishing the race with our eyes locked on the goal and our hearts fixed on the mission. As we head into Arkansas, stay alert, stay focused, and remember what defines a true fighter — not just how hard he swings, but how consistent and faithful he remains when the battle gets toughest.

🟠 Fell Short. No. 16 Missouri edged Auburn 23-17 in double overtime at a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn led 17-10 in the fourth quarter, but Missouri tied the game and forced overtime.

Omar Mabson II scored his first career rushing touchdown, and Jeremiah Cobb’s 41-yard rush in the third quarter was his fourth rush of 40+ yards this season. Wideout Cam Coleman eclipsed 1,000 career receiving yards with a season-high 108 yards, and Perry Thompson set a career-high with four receptions, totaling 60 yards.

Defensively, the Tigers held Missouri to under 100 rushing yards and limited them to 8-of-17 on third down. In SEC games, Auburn is holding opponents to 19-of-57 on third down (33.3%), good for the third best mark in the league. Kayin Lee and Jay Crawford picked off Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula, joining Keyron Crawford and Xavier Atkins as Tigers with interceptions this season.

🟠 Getting It Done. Linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr. was named to the PFF College SEC Team of the Week following a dominant performance against Missouri. Woodyard recorded a career-high 11 tackles and 4.0 tackles for loss, tying for the most TFLs by an Auburn player in an SEC game since 2023.

🟠 Road Battle. Auburn travels to Fayetteville this Saturday for an SEC West matchup with Arkansas at 11:45am. It marks the Tigers’ fourth true road game of the season—making Auburn one of only three SEC programs with that many to this point.

🏈 Game Preview

🟠 Auburn Made – NFL Week 7 Highlights. Derrick Brown and Jamien Sherwood led their defenses in tackles, while Jamel Dean snagged his third interception of the season in another big week for former Auburn Tigers across the league.

  • Derrick Brown (DL, Carolina Panthers) — Brown powered Carolina’s defense in a 13-6 win over the Jets, recording a season-high seven tackles, two sacks, and three pass breakups. He earned an 85.8 PFF grade for the game, raising his season mark to 89.6—second among all interior defenders.

  • Jamel Dean (CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers) — Dean hauled in his third interception of the season vs. the Lions. He ranks second among NFL corners with an 86.4 overall PFF grade and leads the league in pass rush grade (99.6). The seventh-year pro hasn’t missed a tackle all season.

  • Jamien Sherwood (LB, New York Jets) — Sherwood led New York in tackles for the sixth straight week, registering 10 stops and his first sack of the season. The Jets captain ranks tied for third in the NFL with 70 total tackles and owns the ninth-best PFF run defense grade (84.6) among linebackers.

  • Colby Wooden (DT, Green Bay Packers) — Wooden matched his career high with six tackles and added a tackle for loss in the Packers’ 27-23 comeback win over Arizona. His 86.0 game grade was a season best and the highest on Green Bay’s defense.

🟠 Major Key. Keyron Crawford has emerged as one of Auburn’s defensive anchors. The former basketball standout, who didn’t play organized football until his senior year of high school, now ranks among SEC leaders in sacks and tackles for loss, tied for fifth in sacks (5.0) and tied for seventh in tackles for loss (8.0).

In his second season with the program, Crawford reflects on what it means to play at Auburn:

“We have one of the best coaches in the country. Being a part of Auburn is probably one of the best decisions of my life.”

🟠 In just his second season on the Plains, Defensive Coordinator DJ Durkin has established Auburn as one of the nation’s toughest defenses. Auburn enters the week ranked top 30 nationally in rush defense (10th, 87.1 YPG), scoring defense (24th, 17.9 PPG), and total defense (30th, 316.7 YPG), and is one of only six FBS teams that hasn’t allowed more than 24 points in a game this season.

Known for building his defenses around his players’ strengths, Durkin’s approach has helped the Tigers limit every opponent below its season scoring average—setting the tone for a defense that plays fast, physical, and with purpose.

“We’re identifying what guys do well. As a coach, the No. 1 thing you have to do is put your players in position to have success. It’s identifying what we’re good at and gearing the scheme toward that”…“If you want to come to a place and get developed at the highest level with the opportunity to go play at the highest level, it’s here.”

Defensive Coordinator DJ Durkin

🟠 Edge Pressure. Auburn’s defensive front continues to deliver, with Keyron Crawford and Keldric Faulk both ranking among the top-graded SEC EDGE defenders, per PFSN College.

🟠 Atkins Ascending. Sophomore Linebacker Xavier Atkins continued his elite productivity on Auburn’s defense, posting a career-high 11 tackles and recording his fourth sack of the season against Missouri. He’s the only Power Four player this season with 48+ tackles, 9.0+ TFL, and 5.0+ sacks, ranking fourth in the SEC in tackles during conference play.
